Fabulous Friday Find + My thoughts on Goats

I'm am SO excited about the incredible blog I have to share with y'all today!

Amy of Homestead Revival, shares stories about how her family is seeking to live a simplified life, and use more natural methods to be self-sufficient. There are sections devoted to Kitchen Organization, The Family Table, Gardening, Chickens, and my personal favorite Aprons.  But my favorite thing about her blog is the Scripture she has on the side, Titus 2:4-5 "...so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, love their children, to be sensible, pure, keepers at home, kind, subject to their own husbands, so that the Word of God will not be dishonored."
Delicious looking recipes...
Beautiful pictures of farm life...
The aprons, oh the aprons!
But to be honest goats just aren't my thing.  I'm a small town girl, not a farm girl.  To me, goats eat dynamite and then get lead out of town by Andy and Barney.
But that's just me....

Fabulous Friday Find

Thanks to my Mom and Paula Deen, I have the cutest find for y'all today!

Ladies, allow me to introduce to you The Sugar Diva!
Isn't this stuff flat-out adorable?  Cupcake toppers, liners, old-fashioned paper straws, be still my beating heart.

The straws are great by themselves, but....
Pair them with flags and labels, and they can't be beat!
And last but not least, the Baker's Twine, in 12 colors. I'll take one of each please.

Happy Friday Ladies!  I hope y'all had as good a week as I did.  Baking, beautiful weather, adorable sisters, life is good!

Another wonderful thing I enjoy is finding new blogs and making new friends.

So this week I want to share a new blog, written by a new friend.

Also be sure to like them on Facebook through this link.  If they get 500 likes by February 2nd, there will be a very special giveaway, so be sure to like their page.

Fabulous Friday Find

Once again this week I have an amazingly cute blog for y'all, and once again my Mom found it.

Serena of The Farm Chicks is truly a creative blogger. I just adore her style!  The first thing that drew me to her blog is her unbelievable new kitchen.
Everything from the counters to the cabinets are what I hope to have in my home
Not only does she have a super cute blog and amazing kitchen, one of her favorite places is Cath Kidston that I featured in another find.
I love her craft room!
I could post tons of pics, but you might as well take a look for yourself.

Have a great weekend!

Fabulous Friday Find

One week into the year, and two days into our giveaway. So far both have been going really well. I've really enjoyed reading all of the goals y'all have for this year. I'll share some of mine next week.  But it is friday, and that means it is time for a Fabulous Friday Find.

For the first find of this year I have a tool that no kitchen should be without.
Not the knife, although I highly recommend them, I'm talking about the cover.
These neat covers are made of heavy-duty plastic.  They have two locks and four magnets inside the case to hold the knife in place.
When Mom got her first "big girl knife" a few years ago, she knew storing it was going to be an issue.  She was delighted to find these covers at The Container Store

Proper knife storage is important, but accidents can always happen.  We had one of our first major kitchen accidents earlier this month.  Lizzie (5) went to slice her apple with a "off limits" knife and sliced her finger instead.  After an ER visit and some surgical glue, she was (almost) as good as new.

Fabulous Friday Find (Christmas List Edition)

Happy Friday/Day before Christmas Eve everyone!

For today's find I have a list of things I love so much they made it on my Christmas list.  I try to limit my list each year, and have variety, i.e. everything can't come from Williams-Sonoma.

Pretty and practical. It is machine washable and has a wipe-off lining.

You read that right, mug!  This super cool mug looks exactly like a Canon lens.

A great addition to my ever-growing cookbook library.  Now I need the tools.

Another great addition.  This one is by the authors of my favorite food blog.

With the rainy season coming soon, these cute rain boots would be very useful.
Heard great things about this lipstick.  One review said it feels like lip balm.

I love a good western...and a good cowboy.  This is about as good as it gets.

I love ornaments, especially kitchen inspired ones.  The red colander is my fav.

Well that is my list, what is on yours?

Fabulous Friday Find

Allow me to sum up our week in one word, CRAZY!!!

I will be posting about all that has been going on soon.  But for now just know that blogging may have to take a back seat for awhile, as we focus on other things, mainly politics.  As I said details coming soon.

Even in all the chaos of the past week, I have still found time to find a couple of new blogs.  One of my favorites is Maple and Magnolia.  If I ever have time on my hands ("that's funny right there") I want to try some of the great projects she has done.  She really has some of the neatest vintage inspired ideas.

I have pulled a few photos from her site to give you an idea of I'm talking about.
Great Before/After furniture projects
I LOVE this room!!!
Another Union Jack pillow! I have a soft spot for the British
And I love this photo.  It just looks like Spring to me.

Well thats all for now.

Hope you enjoy the find.

P.S. Some of my readers with young children/siblings will recognize the Cars quote in the post.  Like I said it has been a crazy week.  I need some chocolate!

Fabulous Friday Find

Today I wanted to share one of my favorite food blogs with y'all.

I found them last month, and have already suffered from several mouth-watering spells while viewing their blog.  I have really only gone through the Fall/Thanksgiving section and found several great recipes, including the Pumpkin Whoopie Pies I made earlier this week.

Here are a few pics from their site to give you an idea.

Can you tell I like apples? Well we have to do something with all of these!
I'm sure you will find some great recipe, everything looks SO good!

Fabulous Friday Find

Today I wanted to share a great book on organization with y'all.
My sweet Nana gave this to me, and I love it (and her!).  The format is great.
There are sections for every different area that needs organizing.
Each section is then broken down into goals to accomplish that week.
The tasks are always very manageable.
The tips are helpful, and there is a place to write notes.
I really like the "Stay Organized" sections.  It is so easy to get something organized, only to watch it become filled with clutter in a matter of months.

After going through this book I was inspired to go on a organizing rampage.  You know, the kind when you throw open the closet doors in a way that strikes fear into the hearts of clutter.

You are welcome to join me on my organization/clutter extermination project.

Pick up a copy of your own at Barnes & Noble and grab a garbage bag!

I will end this post with a word of warning to any clutter lurking in our house.

You can run, but you can't hide.
I have a garbage bag, and I'm not afraid to use it!

Fabulous Friday Find

Today I have one of my absolute favorite things to share with y'all.
Feed on the Word is a wonderful company.  Their china is simple, beautiful and a great reminder of where our true nourishment comes from.
They are also wonderful gifts.  We have sent these as Christmas gifts to friends and family out of state for the last 3 years.  And we just gave my Grandmother four place settings for her birthday.  Every time the response was the same, they loved it.

As I wrote in another post, I love things that incorporate Scripture into the home.  We have Scripture on our walls, couch, towels and now on our table.  And I want to help you bring Scripture to your family's table too.  Come back Monday to find out how you can win some wonderful Feed on the Word china.

Till Monday,

The Southern Homemaker

Fabulous Friday Find

Today I have a great kitchen tool to share with y'all.  I mean this is the best!

The Back to Basic Apple Peeler, Corer and Slicer!

Now to be honest I wasn't sure about this at first.  I'm a bit old fashioned, and don't like having a gadget for everything.  But since we are going to make apple pie filling this fall, Mom said she didn't want to spend days on end peeling apples.  And after using it I agree!  This makes any apple recipe a breeze.

The day after we got this we made a brand-new apple pie recipe.  It worked great and the pie was out-of-this-world!  I'll have that recipe for you soon, promise!

We ordered ours from King Arthur Flour

It also availiable from Amazon & Williams-Sonoma.

This is also one of those tools that is cool enough the guys want to try it.  Whenever we need apples, we call my brother.  It's great to have family with you in the kitchen.  Well most of the time anyway!

Fabulous Friday Find

I love homes!  When I have some spare time (which is rare) I love to go online and look at home listings.  Sometimes I look at home decorating blogs, or just pick up a Pottery Barn catalog (don't you love that place!).  It is always the little touches that get my attention, the flowers, napkin rings, pictures frames, etc.

Since I don't have a home of my own, I like to watch my mother and observe how she has made our house a home.  One of her "signature touches" if you will, is how she incorporates Scripture into our homes decor.

I could write an entire post on all of the wonderful ways she displays Scripture in our home.  Would you like that?  Just leave me a comment and I'll get to work.

Today I just want to show you one, and share a great resource.
These beautiful hand towels come in a set of 9, and feature all of the Fruit of the Spirit.  Whether we are washing our hands, or in my case folding the laundry, we are reminded of the character qualities we should be exemplifying.

And that is what makes them a "Fabulous Friday Find".

You can find them here, and be sure to check out all of the great items at Christian Gifts Place.

Fabulous Friday Find

Sorry for posting this so late.  I have been in Atlanta all day staffing an event for Gov. Rick Perry.  More on that later.

But for now I want to show y'all one of the cutest DIY projects.

My Mom found this on one of her favorite blogs Beneath My Heart.
photo from beneathmyheart.net
Is that too cute or what?

You can see more photos and all of the details on her post here
